Rites Monday for Roy Rubey

STOCKPORT - Roy H. Rubey, 76, native of Jefferson County, died at 12:15 a.m. today at the Mapleleaf Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant where he had been a patient the past five months.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hope Lutheran Church near Germanville. The Rev. Robert Barker will officiate and burial will be in the cemetery nearby.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church or the Stockport Library.

Roy H. Rubey was born July 4, 1908, the son of Elmer H. and Minnie Keller Rubey. He was married to Ethel May Schlarbaum June 14, 1932, in Monmouth, Ill.

He had farmed all his life before his retirement. He lived southeast of Brighton before moving to the Stockport Community. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.

In addition to his widow Rubey is survived by four daughters: Grace Marie Askam, Muscatine; Shirley May Reschly, Rocheport, Mo.; Mary Louise James, Boise, Idaho; and Linda Kay Meeks McKinzie, Muscatine; and a son, Ralph Henry Rubey, Stockport.

Other survivors include 13 grandchildren and two sisters: Nellie Paul, Route 2, Brighton; and Betty Peacock, Russellville, Ark. Rubey was preceded in death by two sisters and a granddaughter.
