Vincent Crane rites Tuesday

LOCKRIDGE - Vincent E. Crane, 64, longtime resident of the Lockridge Community where he operated a family business for a number of years, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday at the Henry County Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lockridge Baptist Church. The Rev. David Van Gorkom and the Rev. Lenwood Monte will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at the Lockridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to Lockridge Fire Department. The casket will lie in state beginning Monday morning.

Crane operated Crane's Mobil Station as a family business since 1949, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a member of the Lockridge Fire Department since 1948 and retired as chief.

He was a charter member and a past president of the Lockridge Lions Club and a member of the Lockridge Baptist Church.

Vincent E. Crane was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Round Prairie Township, the son of Emery R. and Lela Shelman Crane. He was married to Lorraine Pitzer Aug. 31, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.

In addition to his widow, Crane is survived by three sons: W. Kipp Crane, Metaire, La.; Calvin L. Crane, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Dr. Curtis Crane, Wayland.

Other survivors are six grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Crane, Tucson, Ariz., and Emery J. Crane, Lindale, Texas; and a sister, Gwen Coker, Macomb, Ill.
