Dale E. Keller dies at 64

Dale E. Keller, auctioneer and real estate broker for the past 12 years, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday at University Hospitals in Iowa City where he had been a patient the past few weeks. His death followed an illness of several months.

A native of Jefferson County and formerly a farmer, he graduated from Reisch Auctioneer College in Mason City in December, 1970.

He established his own business and operated as a broker and auctioneer unde the firm name of Keller Realty and Auction Service. He recently sold his business because of ill health.

Keller was a member of the National and Iowa Auctioneers, a member of the Board of Directors of the Iowa Auctioneers, member of the Southeast Iowa Board of Realtors, past president of the Junior Ag Board, he was also a member of the Lions Club, Elks Lodge, Odd Fellows Lodge and Fairfield Booster Club.

Services for Keller will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. George Koch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Lions Club or the Iowa Lung Cancer Research.

Dale E. Keller, 64, was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Jefferson County. He was the son of Jesse and Katharine Daub Keller. he was married to Ada Hollander March 2, 1940, in Lancaster, Mo.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters and a son: Kathryn Augsburger, Las Vegas, Nev.; Karen Chezum, Fairfield; and David Keller, Bettendorf.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frieda Brereton, Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
