James R. Vermazen

Funeral services were in Hrabak Funeral Home, Chelsea, Iowa, for James Ralph Vermazen, 76, Phoenix, Ariz., a former Donnellson resident, who died May 14 in Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix. Burial with Masonic rites at graveside, was in Rector cemetery, Chelsea.

Mr. Vermazen was born Jan. 30, 1905, at Charleston, Iowa. He was a member of First Presbyterian church of Peoria, Ariz. and the Zenith Lodge No. 581 of Chelsea.

On May 26, 1934, he married Amber Brush, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 24, 1972, he married Ruth Wooley, who survives.

Also surviving is a son, Bruce of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Verlin Strunk of Glendale, Ariz. and Mrs. John Harnagel of Grayslake, Ill.; two brothers, Roger of Keokuk and Ernest of Fayette, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Byron Hancock of Farmington, Mrs. T.J. Wahrer of Charleston, Mrs. Harold Gedney and Mrs. Lois Holdefer, both of Fort Madison; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother. His parents were James H. and Mae Griswold Vermazen.
