Louie Phillips

KAHOKA, Mo. - A service for Louie H. Phillips, 85, of Moline, Ill., formerly of Medill, who died July 30 at Moline, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shaffer and Sons Funeral Home of Kahoka, with the Rev. Harold Shelton officiating.

Burial will be the the black Ledge Cemetery near Mt. Sterling, Ia.

The family will meet with friends from 7-9 tonight at Shaffer and Sons.

He was born April 19, 1895 at Farmington, Iowa, the son of William and Mary Steeples Phillips. He married Matie Harvey in 1917. She preceded him in death.

He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 25 years.

Survivors include daughters, Bessie Streit of Moline, Von Cornmesser of Moline, Mary Brogan of Las Vegas, Nev., and Pauline McClusky of Quincy; son Ernest of Mayfield, Kan.; stepson Walter Smith of Smithfield, Kan.; stepdaughter Maybelle Phillips of Luray; sister Ella Phillips of Ottumwa; 35 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and one sister.
