MT. PLEASANT - Bernard Bailey, 68, Mt. Pleasant, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 8, at Bradenton, Fla.

Mr. Bailey was born July 20, 1912, near Stockport. He managed the Henry County Supply Company before World War II and during the war worked for Boeing Aircraft company in Kansas on the team that was responsible for the development of the B29 Superfortress. After the war he was employed for 14 years at the Mt. Pleasant plant of the Sheaffer Pen then worked as electric and heating department director of REC in Mt. Pleasant for 17 years until his retirement.

On March 25, 1931, at Birmingham, he married Marjorie M. Donald, who survives.

He was a member of the First United Methodist church, Mt. Pleasant.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, James of Montrose, and Ronald of Sterling, Colo., two daughters, Mrs. William (Antionette) Morehouse, Lamoni, and Mrs. Robert (Tanya) Evans, Midwest City, Okla.; a brother, Chauncey Bailey, Boonville, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Jeanne Cuffel, Olean, Mo., and nine grandchildren and a great grandchild.

His parents were Henry P. and Estella Axtell Bailey.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist church. Dr. Robert P. Robinson and the Rev. Neil H. Cross will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the Spencer cemetery near Stockport.

The body is at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will meet from 7 to 8:30 Thursday evening.
