ARTHUR P. JUDD

Arthur P. Judd, son of Zaral Alfred and Sarah Ann Judd, was born near Elkhart, Ill. May 22, 1888. He passed away at his home in Mt. Sterling, Iowa, Sept. 5, 1966 at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 14 days. He had returned to his home on Sunday after spending several days in the Van Buren Memorial Hospital. His death was unexpected.

Arthur moved to Iowa in 1911, where he spent the rest of his life with the exception of 3 years which he spent in California during World War II. He was a member of the Methodist church.

On Dec. 14, 1913 he was married to Elsie Dell Davis of near Mt. Sterling, Iowa. To this union were born two sons, Howard Stephen and Garland Edward. They were remarried when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1963.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three brothers, Clarence of Lincoln, Ill., Alfred of Galesburg and John of Eugene, Mo.; one sister, Anna of Kansas, and one granddaughter, Anna Garlynn.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Elsie; two sons, Howard and Edith of Pekin, Ill., Garland and Janice of Mt. Sterling, Iowa; three grandchildren, Sandra French of Peoria, Ill., Jonna of Pekin and Stephen Arthur of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Mrs. Nora Burkett of St. Charles, Iowa; a number of other relatives and a host of friends. He was a sincere neighbor, a wonderful husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The pallbearers were Carl Roush, Glen Kennedy, Harold Morris, Arthur Hamlett, Fred Thommen and Robert Roush. The funeral service was held Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling. The Rev. Herbert Phillips officiated. Mrs. Hollis Kerr was soloist and Mrs. Carnahan was pianist. Burial was in Harness Cemetery at Mt. Sterling.
