Ed J. Vance

Ed J. Vance, 75, of Farmington, died Thursday, Feb. 15, at 4:30 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient three days.

He was born July 10, 1892 in Clinton, the son of Ed and Augusta Krukow Vance.

On Aug. 17, 1918 at Milica, Minn., he married Ellen Schelin, who survives.

He moved to Farmington 22 years ago from DeWitt. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Vance was a member of the Knights of Pythias.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Augusta Vance of DeWitt; two daughters, Mrs. Harley (Ellen) Boyer of Farmington, Mrs. Ray (Rachel) Palmer Jr. of Argyle; two sons, Robert Vance of Farmington and Edward Vance of Revere, Mo.; one brother, Reuben Vance of Hillsboro; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, one sister and a grandson.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Farmington Baptist church with the Rev. Ronald Cochan(sp?) officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
