Mrs. Eva Van Patten

Mrs. Eva Van Patten, 72, Salem, died at 10 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18 while driving her car in Salem.

She was born May 4, 1895, in Bedford, the daughter of Hugh and Sarah Kayser Bedford. She married Albert Van Patten in 1913. She was owner and operator of Eva's Café in Salem for the past year.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Lewis and Mrs. Woody Douglas of Farmington; a son, Eugene of Hillsboro; two grandchildren raised in her home, Robert and Roberta Van Patten Smith; a brother, Earl Bedford, Burlington; a sister, Marie Gray of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two half-sisters.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Farmington Methodist church, Rev. Harold Schirm will officiate. Burial will be in Bonaparte cemetery. The body will be at the Woody Douglas home in Farmington Wednesday. Beatty Funeral chapel is in charge of the service.
