MRS. LEE SMITH

Mrs. Mabel Smith, 77, of Mt. Sterling died Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. in the Van Buren County Memorial hospital, where she had been a patient for about a week.

The daughter of Oliver and Ollie Freeman Guess, she was born July 5, 1886, at Bonaparte. Her marriage to Lee Smith of Mt. Sterling took place on Feb. 19, 1909. Mr. Smith, a retired railroad worker died in 1958.

She is survived by two sisters, Miss Beulah Guess of Ft. Madison and Mrs. Fred Muntz of Farmington.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m., at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial at Mt. Sterling.
