Wilbia Phillips

Wilbia Phillips, 64, who farmed four miles north east of Cantril, died Wednesday, Dec. 1 about 2:50 p.m. at Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. He sustained a heart attack while doing livestock chores that morning.

Born March 20, 1901, in Tipton County, Ind., he was the son of Sanferd and Ida Bradburn Phillips. He was married Nov. 4, 1921 to Naomi Huffman, who survives.

The couple resided on a farm near Cantril since 1956.

Besides the widow, survivors include three sons, Edward and David of Burlington, James of New Orleans, Ia.; a foster daughter, Barbara Huffman of Alaska; two brothers, Charles of Bloomington, Ind. and Carl of Bedford, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Ica Hawk of Argyle.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Services were held Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Catcott Funeral Home, Keosauqua with the Rev. Grover Senf of Ft. Madison officiating. Burial was in Purdom cemetery.
