J. Virgil Harper

J. Virgil Harper, 69, Stockport, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 5 in University Hospitals, Iowa City, after an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 13, 1892, in Van Buren county, the son of James J. and Ida Mae Donald Harper. On Feb. 14, 1917, he was married to Iva Hooper, who survives. He was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist church and was a retired farmer.

Besides his widow he leaves a son, Harry Jay Harper of Hillsboro; two grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Pratt of Stockport, and a brother, Leslie Harper of Chehalis, Wash.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Burch funeral home, Birmingham, in charge of Rev. Charles Grooms, Hillsboro Baptist minister. Burial was in the Spencer cemetery, Stockport.
