Iola Lea Rowley

Iola Lea Rowley, daughter of Rutledge Lea and Victoria Henry Lea, died on July 1, 1947, at the hospital in Fairfield, Iowa, following an illness of about two months.

She was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, on the 9th day of November, 1872.
On March 29, 1893, she was united in marriage with Roland B. Rowley who preceded her in death on November 24, 1934.

To this marriage there were born five children: Lea Theodore, born on Jan. 25, 1896 died Sept. 17, died Sept. 21, 1897. Three daughters survive, Eleanor, wife of Jo Stong of Keosauqua, Josephine, wife of Donald Bell, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kathleen, wife of Hollis Arnold, near Keosauqua.

One sister Henrietta, wife of Robert R. McBeth, of Keosauqua, Iowa and three grandchildren survive, Patricia, Shirley and Robert Bell.

Mrs. Rowley also leaves numerous other relatives and a host of real friends to mourn her passing.

She was a member of Chapter I.P.E.O Keosauqua, Iowa and also of Lynds Chapter Order of Eastern Star, of Keosauqua, Iowa. She had been a member of the Eastern Star Chapter for more than 50 years, and of the P. E.O.‘s for 56 years. She was a member of the Congregational church of Keosauqua, Iowa.

Until her recent illness made it impossible she had worked faithfully in all the organizations to which she belonged and in her associations had made deep and lasting friendships.

“Ola” Rowley, as she was affectionately known loved her family and her friends, her family and her friends loved her. Death will not terminate this affection.

Services were held Thursday afternoon at the Burnett funeral home conducted by the Rev. Homer C. Dalrymple.
Interment in Purdom cemetery.
