Thanks Steve for your response. Found reference to Hocking at www.albia.com. It was a coal-mining community connected to Albia (Monroe County) by the Albia Interurban Electric Railroad, established in 1907. Hocking must have been short-lived as it does not show up on earlier (1895) or current map references. It was active around the time of my mother's birth (1909) when my grandfather (Thomas MacDonald) was building houses for the coal miners. Maybe someone else has memory of its exact location in Monroe County. Thanks again.
