CHARLES KILGORE, SHANNON CITY

Charles Jerry Kilgore, 93, Route 1, Shannon City, died March 19, 1995 at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Platte Center Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Peter Brantner will officiate the service. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Union County. There is open visitation after 1 p.m. today and a family night from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials may be directed to Green Valley Hospice.

Mr. Kilgore was born Jan. 14, 1902, in Taylor County to John Samuel and Rachel Jane (Atkin) Kilgore. On Nov. 28, 1925, he married Daisy Mildred Brown in Chariton. He farmed in Taylor, Ringgold, and Union counties all his adult life until retiring in 1964. He served on the Shannon City School Board.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Kilgore of Shannon City; two daughters, Eloise (husband Louis) White of Shannon City and Harriet (husband Wayne) Palmer of Creston; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice Hartwigson of Salmon, Idaho, and Mildred Beede of Berthoud, Colo., and two brothers Paul Kilgore of Marysville, Calif., and Harold Kilgore of Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothea Mae Collier on 9/7/1990; three brothers; a sister, and a great granddaughter.
