Mrs. F. A. Sawyer Dead.

Mrs. F. A. Sawyer, who has been sick for many months, died about 8 o’clock Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 1:30 Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. C. C. Hatcher, assisted by Rev. W. E. Robb of the Christian church. After the regular service the W. R. C. performed their simple ritualistic service. Interment was in the Graceland cemetery west of town. Her son Crawford of Council Bluffs and a daughter, Mrs Sylvia Gratton of Joplin, Mo., were present at the funeral. A daughter, Mrs Eldora Hindman, has been with her mother most of the time since early summer and was here at the time of her death.

F. A. Sawyer

F. A. Sawyer died at the home of his son, Crawford, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Wednesday, July 23. The body was brought to Bedford Saturday morning and funeral services were held that morning at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. C. C. Hatcher. Interment was made in the Graceland cemetery.

Frederick A. Sawyer was born in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, December 24, 1836. Spent the early part of this life there and enlisted in Company H, First Cavalry where he served regularly and faithfully for three years. He was then mustered out on account of disability. About 33 years ago he came to Indianola, Iowa where he was married to Eligamma Marshall Perkins in 1871. To this union seven children were born, four of whom survive. The are Mrs. Silvia Gretton, Joplin, Mo., R. H. Sawyer of Warsaw, Mo., Mrs. Eldora Cromwell, and Crawford Sawyer of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mr. Sawyer’s last utterance was to tell Brother Hatcher to tell all of his friends goodbye.
