Jack J. Kriegel, 88, of Tama passed away May 22, 2015, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
Jack was born on January 1, 1927 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Walter and Myrtle (Fisher) Kriegel Sr. Jack served his country in the US Army during WWII, spending time in Dschau. On January 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lois Timm at the St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama. Jack was employed at Tama Paperboard for sixteen years and then worked with the Iowa Highway Commission, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama where he was baptized, confirmed and had served as a leader with the Luther League. Jack was a member of the American Legion for sixty-six years and the Fraternal Order of Eagles for forty-four years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and making fishing lures and jigs. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lois of Tama; one daughter, Linda (Leo) Wobeter of Vinton; six grandchildren, Jennie Wobeter, Joshua (Brooke) Wobeter, Jessica (Mariah) Mauer, Laura (Eric) Miller, Bruce Kriegel and Emily Kriegel; fie great-grandchildren, Brielle Mauer, Barron Mauer, Avery Wobeter, Tyler Miller and Hayden Miller; one sister, Virginia Mildenstein of Emporia, KS.; one brother, Walt (Norma) Kriegel of Tama; one daughter-in-law, Susan Kriegel of Grinnell; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Kriegel of Marion. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Steven Kriegel; and one brother, Bill Kriegel. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo handled the arrangements.
