Land from Homestead Act

My MUIR ancestors that were two women each married a SULLIVAN brother. I do not have anyone's first name. I'm trying to find out their land patents.
Family history has the two Muir sisters and two Sullivan brothers homesteading on property in Story county near the University of Ames. I'm hoping that the two brothers were smart enough to obtain two parcels side-by-side. How difficult would it be to find their land patents and is there anyone that does research on this?
