Obituary

Harriett Orintha Myers was born in Fountain county, Ind., on the 26th day of March, 1866, and came to Story City, Iowa, with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Niram Allan Myers, in the year 1882. After growing to womanhood she was united in marriage with Sampson Wier on the 26th day of March, 1884, and to them were born six children. Together they lived in and near Story City until her husband was taken from her by death on April 15, 1918. One son, George, had died on December 19, 1913. Thus it is obvious that with her joys were also mingled sorrows and afflictions which make up the sum total of human life.

Mrs. Wier was of a rather jovial disposition and was inclined to look on the bright side of life, which made for her many warm friends who now cherish her memory. She met with an unfortunate accident on July 2nd of this year when she fell and sustained injuries which confined her to her bed. She was brought to the local hospital at that time and at first her condition was not generally regarded as serious enough to cause alarm. As the days and weeks wore away she grew gradually weaker and at different times her end was anticipated by such who were at her bedside; therefore her passing did not come unexpectedly. She passed away peacefully Wednesday evening Nov. 6, 1935, at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 11 days. During the days of this her last illness, she repeatedly expressed her delight in the consciousness of the presence of the Lord, and that she was fully resigned to whatever God had in store for her, and that she was ready to go.

These left to mourn her passing are her five children and their families: Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wier of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Wier and their children Donald, Wanda and Avis of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wier and their children, William and Mrs. Betty Travis of Omaha, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Larson and their daughters Phyllis of Des Moines and Mrs. Geraldine Anderson of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Hans O. Jacobson and their children Orlie, Alice, Lloyd Leo and Elsie of Rice Lake, Wis. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Alice Clapp of State Line, Inc.; Mrs. Caroline Williams of Fayette, Ind., and Mrs. Pearl Wheeler of Hoopeston, Ill., and one brother, Grant Myers of Danville, Ill., besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
