Last Rites Held In Nevada For Goldie Crofutt

Funeral services for Mrs. Goldie Crofutt were held Nov. 5 from the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Keller of Dallas Center officiating.

Pallbearers were five of her nephews, Glen Hankins, Kenneth Brouhard and DeWyane Wilkening of Nevada, Ronald Handsaker of Woodward, Anor Hankins of Lawndale, Calif. and a family friend, Guy Handsaker of Nevada. Burial was in the Johnson Grove cemetery at Fernald.

Mrs. Goldie Crofutt was born Jan. 25, 1890 in Marshall county to Jeremiah and Mary Hankins, in a family of fourteen children. Goldmer Hankins of Nevada is her twin brother.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Crofutt on March 23, 1910. They lived in various places until they settled in Marshalltown in 1922. In 1938 she entered the Boone Biblical Home, due to poor health and there she remained until her death. She had been a sufferer from arthritis for 50 of more years.

Although her health kept her from church attendance, her time was occupied with reading the Word of God, writing letters to cheer others, and gathering together Christian literature to send to foreign lands. Her heart was tender to others.

On Oct. 29, 1959, she underwent surgery in the Boone County Hospital, where her death occurred, Nov. 3 at the age of 69 years, 9 months and eight days.

She is survived by her twin brother, Goldmer Hankins of Nevada, Jerry of Zearing, Lawrence of Albion and her sister Levina Perske of Moorhead, Minn., a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
