SAM BOOHER DIED IN CALIFORNIA

FORMER NEVADA MAN PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN THAT CITY.

Word has reached this city of the death at Santa Ana, Calif. of Samuel D. Booher, 72, at his home in that city Wednesday night. The funeral and interment will be in Santa Ana. Mr. Booher was a resident of Nevada and vicinity for many yeas and moved to Santa Ana to make his permanent home but a few years ago. He leaves besides his wife, two sons, Clare Booher of Santa Ana and Clyde Booher of San Diego and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Chaffin of near this city. All were with him at the time of his death.

Besides the wife and children he leaves two brothers J. P. Booher of this city and V. L. Booher of Santa Ana and one sister Mrs. John Holder who lives near Nevada but is now visiting with her children in Minnesota.

Mr. Booher was a native son of Iowa, having been born near the present site of Stratford over the line in Webster county, March 1, 1852. He came to Story county in 1865 with the family and settled on the old Booher homestead southeast of this city. He was married to Miss Catherine Payne December 26, 1874, and to this union the two sons, and one daughter now living, were born. Mrs. Booher died in the fall of 1889 an in November of 1890, he was again married this time to Mrs. Mary Finley McConnell, who with the three children are left to mourn his death. Two children were born to the second marriage but both died in infancy.

The family home had always been in Nevada after he moved in from the farm, with the exception of a couple years, spent at Crookston, Minn., where he was engaged in the realty business. It was about six years ago that he and Mrs. Booher moved to Santa Ana to make their permanent home.

Mr. Booher was an excellent citizen honest and industrious and was a man of strict integrity and fine character.
