FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JOHN A. KNUDTSON HELD AT AMES SUNDAY

John A. Knudtson, a former resident of Roland, died at his home in Ames at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. He had been ill with hearth trouble for a year.

He was born in Vikebygd, Sondhordland, Norway, and was 69 years old at the time of his death.

In the year 1884 he came to America and worked on a farm near Roland. He was united in marriage to Julia Prescott on March 25, 1901. To this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. They resided in Roland for 28 years, and then moved to Ames, where they lived for the past ten years. He was active as a carpenter until a year ago when ill health caused him to retire. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran church at Ames.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and four children, Henry of Ottosen, Mrs. Oscar Nelson of Walker, Minn., Mrs. Robert Shiffer of Milwaukee, Wis., and Roy of Niagara Falls, N. Y., also one sister, Mrs. Inger Alne of Norway, and one brother, Herman Knudtson of Roland, and five grandchildren.

While a resident of Roland, Mr. Knudtson was engaged for a time in the blacksmithing and wagonmaking trade in partnership with his brother, the late Paul Knudtson. He later worked at the carpenter trade.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames with the pastor, Rev. Alvin N. Rogness, officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. The pall bearers were friends of the family from Ames.

Knudtson, Mr. and Mrs. Lars Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Wilson, and Herman Knudtson, of Roland, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hagen of Lake Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Knudt Knudtson of Forest City, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Knudtson and Eleanor of Blue Earth, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Britson of McCallsburg.
