State Center Woman Died Very Suddenly
Special to the Journal
State Center, June 1--Mrs. Carrie Keeler, 63, widow of a former State Center town councilman, and a member of Marshall county's pioneers families, died suddenly at about 9:30, Memorial Day morning at her home here. She has been in her usual health, although for some time she had been afflicted with a heart ailment. Death came as she was at work in her kitchen preparing dinner for relatives who were expected for a holiday weekend. Mrs. Sallie Linn, a house guest, was with her.
Mrs. Keeler was born Carrie Triplett, a daughter of Thomas and Charlotte Mead Triplett, on February 13, 1873 on a farm northwest of Melbourne, where she spent her early life. In the spring of 1895 she moved to State Center with her father, with whom she lived until her marriage to Henry F. Keeler on July 22, the following year, and her home had been here since that time. Mr. Keeler died June 6, 1919.
Mrs. Keeler was a member of the Christian church at Melbourne.
Of a large family, Mrs. Keeler is survived only by one sister, Mrs. George H. Dannen of Melbourne. This is the fourth death in the circle in the past two years.
Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 this afternoon in charge of Rev. Louis L. V. McDonough. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
