Last Rites Read For Mrs. Mamie Townswick

STORY CITY -- Last rites were conducted in the Bethel Lutheran church, Story City, for Mrs. Mamie Townswick, lifelong resident of that community.

This was preceded by a prayer service at 1:30 in the home of the daughter, Mrs. Orville Olson, west of Story City. Here Mr. Olson sang a hymn as a special number Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang two numbers at the church, "Blessed Assurance," and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling."

The body was laid to rest in the Story City cemetery. Casket bearers were J. M. Severaid, George Nibe, Leonard Hermanson, William Franson, Myron Rod and J. C. Olson.

A large sum of money was given to missions and various benevolences in memory of the deceased.

Obituary

Mamie Hermanson Townswick, daughter of Peder and Bodil Hermanson, was born on the Hermanson homestead south of Story City, April 28, 1880, and passed away Tuesday evening, February 12 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orville Olson at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 16 days.

On Dec. 11, 1900 she was united in marriage to Lewis J. Townswick. They settled on a farm six miles southeast of Story City where they lived until 1936 when they moved to her present home in Story City. They were the parents of six children, Richard of Cypress, Calif., Mrs. Herbert Jacobson of Adel, Mrs. Herbert Emmons of Kanawha, Mrs. Herman Olson, Mrs. Orville Olson and Jeffrey Townswick of Story City. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and one brother, Walter Hermanson of Story City.

Mrs. Townswick has been a member of Bethel church for many years. She was faithful in her attendance and always willing to do her share in the extension of God's Kingdom. Her departure will be felt by many, but especially by her children, who loved her and for whom she did so much. However their loss will be her gain. Blessed are they that died in the Lord.
