Thos. Opstvedt, who has for a year past bee making his home on the J. H. Larson farm south of town, had his foot amputated at the hospital in Des Moines last Friday morning, and as a result of the operation died at an early hour Sunday morning. The remains were brought up on the 6 o'clock train Sunday evening and funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Bethlehem church. Rev. Smedal of Roland, conducted the service. Interment was made in the Slater cemetery. Deceased was a veteran of the Civil war where he served with honor in the Union ranks. He reached an age of 66 years and is mourned by a faithful wife, a sister, Mrs. Thomas Berhow and a large number of other relatives and friends.
