Clarence Nelson Final Rites Held Saturday

A prayer service was held at the Ryan Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. for Clarence E. Nelson of Vernon Center, Minn., with the Rev. E. P. Windman of the Nevada Memorial Lutheran church officiating.

Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Lutheran church at Vernon Center, Minn., Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Paul Griebel officiating. Following this service the body was brought to Nevada for a short prayer service in the Ryan Funeral Home and burial in the Nevada cemetery.

Pall bearers in Nevada were James Sorenson, Clyde Kopf, Marvin Nelson, Earl Prescott, Chester Martin and Edward Larsen.

Clarence Edward Nelson was born March 18, 1893 at St. Paul, Minn., a son of Hans and Thora Nelson.

The deceased was a former resident of Milford Township, moving to Minnesota 37 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Nelson of Vernon Center, Minn., two sons, Robert A. of Lake Crystal, Minn. and Gerald R. of Mapleton, Minn, and by one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Jordan Jr. of Lake Crystal, Minn. and by eight grandchildren.

He also leaves two brothers, Philip S. Nelson of Maxwell and Roy A. Nelson of Mountain View, Calif.

Here for Service

Accompanying the body to Nevada Saturday morning were the wife, Mrs. Ida Nelson of Vernon Center, Minn., the sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson and two children, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nelson and son of Mapleton, Minn., and the daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Norman, Jr. and three daughters of Lake Crystal, Minn.

Preceding and following the 2 p. m. served in the Ryan Funeral Home, all the relatives gathered at the home of the niece of the deceased and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kopf, 921 M Avenue.

Relatives and friends here for the prayer service and burial were from Minnesota, Boone, Mitchellville, Cambridge, Ames, Nevada and possibly elsewhere.

In attendance at the service in Vernon Center on Friday from here were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Cody, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kopf and Mrs. Ruth Nelson.

Others from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Chris Haugsted and Lucille and Myra Larson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Larson of Webb.

After the committal here Mrs. Ida Nelson remained at the home of her late husband's brother, Philip S. Nelson of Maxwell. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nelson and son left for home on Sunday, the other relatives leaving for home after the services.
