MRS. HANNAH HOVDE

ROLAND--Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah Hovde were held Tuesday, September 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunset Home Chapel in Story City and at 2:00 p.m. at the Bergen Church at Roland. The Rev. L. A. Mathre officiated at both services. John Heggen spoke briefly at the chapel.

At the church Otto Hanson sang "I Know Of A Sleep In Jesus' Name" and "Den Store Hvide Flok."

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased and included Joel Hiller of Gurkeen, Minn., Gaylord Hovde of Radcliffe, David Hickle of Boone, Robert Sansgaard of Story City, LaVerne Hovde of Webster City and Rodney Hansen of Prole.

Interment was n the Roland cemetery.

Life Sketch

Mrs. Hannah Dorthea Hovde, a daughter of the late Ole and Anna Haugen Olson as born Oct. 14, 1872 in Haugesund, Norway. She died Sept. 26, 1958 at the Sunset Home in Story City, where she had made her home several years, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Norway. She emigrated from Norway with her parent in 1884 at the age of 12 years.

Mrs. Hovde was united in marriage to Ole T. Hovde February 8, 1894. To this union eight children were born all living. Her husband died December 6, 1917.

Survivors are Mrs. Eskel (Mabel) Hiller of Granada, Minn, Mrs. S. H. (Della) Sansgaard, Story City, Clarence and Joseph, Roland, Mrs. Clarence (Mildred) Hickle, Boone, Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Ellingson, Ames, Mrs Ingvald (Jurene) Hansen, Roland Gerald, Radcliffe, also a stepson, Bennie of Knoxville Veterans Hospital.

Also surviving are 35 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great great grand children, a brother, Martin H. Olson and wife of Greybulle, Wyo. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Isabelle Olson of Roland.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister and four brothers and a step daughter, Tillie Walker.

Since her marriage she spent most of her life two miles southwest of Roland. She was a member of the Bergen Lutheran Church.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were from Graybull, Wyo., Ceylon, Blue Earth, Guckeen, Granada and Minneapolis, Minn., Manhatton, Kansas, Humbolt, Prole, Jewell, Radclifee, Story City, Nevada, Ames, McCallsburg, Huxley, Webster City and Boone.
