Christena Kleaveland Rites Held Recently

Story City: -- Funeral services for Mrs. Christena Kleaveland were held Friday afternoon, Aug. 31, at 1:30 o'clock at the Story City Sunset Home and two o'clock in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. L. A. Mathre was in charge of the service at the Sunset Home and Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiated at the church service.

Mrs. Benjamin Anderson sang "Hold Thou My Hand, Precious Lord" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Burial was in the Jewell Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Owen Flygstad, Donald Flygstad, Joe Flygstad, Floyd Jones, Virgil Jones and Oscar Erickson.

Obituary

Mrs. Christena Kleaveland, daughter of Daniel and Jorgena Flygstad, was born on a farm near Jewell, Iowa on February 26, 1876. She was baptized by Rev. Nils Amlund at Story City, Iowa.

She received her Christian education at Jewell and was confirmed by Rev. N. G. Peterson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

She was unite in marriage to August Kleaveland, March 29, 1905 by Rev. J. C. Eastvold, also of Jewell. In the year, 1916 she and her husband were received into membership of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

She died Tuesday, August 28, 1956 at the Sunset Old People's Home where she had lived the past ten years. She was preceded in death by her husband in June of this year.

She is survived by the following sisters and brothers -Mrs. Bertina Flygstad of Dallas, Wisconsin, Mrs. Mary Jones of Story City, Oscar Flygstad of Ellsworth, Hans Flygstac of Barron, Wisconsin, Mrs. Julia Jacobson of Story City, Bankie Flygstad of Webster City, Chia Lena Clauson, San Bernardino, California, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Christopherson of Webster City and numbers of nieces and nephews.
