Last Rites Held For N. D. Burnett On Wednesday

Funeral services for Niles D. Burnett, Nevada business man for 27 years, were conducted from the Ryan Funeral home, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 9, at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. David W. Ash of the Nevada Methodist church officiating. Organ music was played at the opening and closing of the service.

Many beautiful flowers surrounded the casket.

The pall bearers were Wm. Atkinson, Glen Minear, Jimmy Stone Sr., Clyde Stewart, Elmer Williams and Ray Watson.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

In the passing of "Nick" Burnett, Nevada, loses a fine, upright citizen and a man always interested in everything for the good of Nevada.

The following brief life history was read by the officiating minister.

Obituary

Niles D. Burnett was born December 30, 1892 at Onawa, Iowa, the child of John and Mary Burnett. He departed this life Sunday, December 6, 1953.

Niles Burness was, for the last twenty-seven years, a barber in Nevada, and was associated for the last nineteen years with Wm. C. Hoel in that work.

Niles was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge and a member of the Christian church in Onawa.

He leaves to mourn his passing a sister, Aletha Redman of Iowa City, three nieces, three nephews, Mrs. Laura Pincombe and family and other friends and neighbors who have known him through the years.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Burnett.

From Out of Town

Among relatives from out of town in attendance at the last rites were the sister of the deceased, Mrs. Aletha Redman of Iowa city, her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Black of Audubon and her son Clarence Redman of Clinton; a niece of the deceased, Mrs. Russell Treanor of Des Moines and a sister in law of the deceased, Mrs. Ivan Burnett of Marshalltown. Mrs. Warren Ashby of Kansas City was also in attendance at the funeral.
