Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Jerald Gordon Nordin, 81, Ames, IA took his final journey home peacefully February 10, 2018 at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, IA.

A celebration of Jerald's life will be held 11:00 a.m., February 16, 2018 at Memorial Services of Iowa Funeral Home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny IA). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

He was born on November 25, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of Gordon and Gladys Nordin. In 1952 he moved to Ames, IA at the age of 16. He married Myrna Schultz on June 18, 1955. They started their family in 1957 and raised 5 children. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June of last year.

Jerry served 6 years in the National Guard. He worked for Iowa State University for 2 years. He then was employed at Henry's Hamburgers for 15 years as a manger and 2 years at JJ's restaurant as a manager. He was employed with the City of Ames for 30 years. He started in the Purchasing department and retired in 1998 from the Traffic department.

Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, reading books and spending time with family, friends, and spoiling Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Myrna Nordin, sons; Jeff (Julie) Nordin of Ames, IA, Tim (Becky) Nordin of Boone IA, Chris Nordin and Todd Nordin of Ames, IA, Daughter; Tonia (Kurt) Moore of Boone, IA; 7 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren; sister Judy Giddle.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, 2 sisters, 2 brother in laws and 1 grandson.
