Dorothy H. Bullock, age 94, of Nevada, died Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Born August 20, 1923, in Gilman, Iowa, Dorothy Hazel Bullock was one of eight children born to Otis E. and Fern M. (Lutes) Shayer. She grew up and received her education in Marshall County, Iowa, graduating from Liscomb High School in 1942.

On September 22, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to Thomas William Henry Bullock at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center. The couple settled in Nevada and was blessed with three children: Larry, Connie, and David.

Dorothy worked 30 years at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada. She was a faithful member of Memorial Lutheran Church and Ruth Circle, Moose Lodge (Women of the Moose), and also was active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling, and loved to “see what was over the next hill.” Dorothy enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren when they gathered together for family meals.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Sherry) Bullock of Ames, Connie Clark of Ames, and David (Elisa) Bullock of Poughkeepsie, NY; four grandchildren, Marne (Kelly) Steinke, Chris (Sandy) Clark, Monte (Tammy) Bullock, and Kyle (Rendee) Clark; eight great-grandchildren, Emily Clark, Sarah and Owen Steinke, Logan, Caleb, Abigail, and Madison Bullock, and Kyler Clark; and two sisters, Norma Angell of Cedar Rapids, and Marie Hill of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 2007; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy’s name may be directed to the family, c/o Ryan Funeral Home, P.O. Box 434, Nevada, IA 50201.
