Saundra Marie Grabau, 51, of Gilbert, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. A celebration of life visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa 50010).

Saundra was born September 4, 1966, in Morehead, Kentucky. She graduated from Rowan County Senior High School in 1984 and attended Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa and Iowa State University in Ames. Saundra was the Vision Center manager at Wal-Mart in Ames, Iowa.

Saundra enjoyed going to Disneyland with her family, watching trash TV, going to the pool and being in the sun in general and face timing her granddaughter Avalyn. Her most treasured memories were spending time with her four children.

Left to cherish her memory are Saundra's four children: Bianca Hogge (fiancé Luke Strack) of North Liberty, IA, James Jackson of Gilbert, IA, Brianna (Luke) Trainor of Oceanside, CA and Jarid Olson of Gilbert; granddaughter, Avalyn Trainor; mother, Betty (George) Sanchez Marshall of Morehead, KY; siblings: Susan Shafer and Sharon (John) Ginter, all of Morehead, KY; Sari (John) Lambert of Ames, IA; nephews: Steven Cox and Tristen (Sabrina) Shafer-Evans; great-nephews: Parker Cox, Dylan Cox, Conner Shafer-Evans and Cameron Jordan.

Saundra is preceded in death by her partner Deon Olson; brother, David Shafer; aunt, Markeeta Wright and grandmother, Elizabeth Lawton.
