23 November 1911Pioneer Lady Surprised at Story City
On Wednesday, November 8th, Mrs. Sara (Tarvestad) Nelson of Story City celebrated her eightieth birthday, and her relatives carefully planned a surprise for her on that occasion. About eighty relatives and other friends assembled after dinner at her home, and a most pleasant afternoon was spent, with social visits, short addresses, and with feasting. Among those present were her two sons, Elias Nelson, of Milton, N. D. and Osmund D. Nelson and wife of Grafton, N. D. this being their first visit here for many years.
Mrs. Nelson is one of the pioneer settlers of Howard township, and her numerous friends will rejoice with her that she has been able to attain such a high age, and will wish her peace and comfort the remaining years that she may have left to live.
