Marion Byker, 58, of rural Hawarden died Wednesday (Feb. 14,1990) in a hospital at Hawarden of injuries suffered in a farm accident.

Services were held Saturday in the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton. Rev. Wybren Oord officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton, under direction of Porter-Dow Funeral home in Ireton.

Mr. Byker was born Feb. 27, 1931, near Ireton and attended rural school. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from December 1952 until December 1954. He married Nelma Brands Jan. 25, 1956, at Inwood. The couple farmed near Hawarden. Mr. Byker was a past member of the Ireton Christian school board and past member of the Unity Unit. He was a past council member of Christian Reformed church in Ireton.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eugene and his wife, Cheryl, and Daryl and Michael, all of Hawarden; two daughters, Sharlene and her husband, Elmer Jelgerhuis of Minneapolis and Shirley and her husband, Rudy Folkerts of Pella; two brothers, Gerrit of Hawarden and Gilber of Ireton; three grandchildren, Leah Byker and Rachel and Sarah Jelgerhuis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marie (Hooyer) Byker.
