Mrs. Norma D. Kenney, age 87, of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, August 7, at 11:00am, at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City with the Rev. Michael Cooper officiating.

Norma Darlene was born on July 7, 1939, in Orange City, the daughter of John G. and Effie (Swets) Van Oort. She was raised in Orange City and graduated from the Newkirk High School. She continued her education at the Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, receiving an associate’s degree.

In August of 1961, she married Russell W. Kenney, Jr. They initially lived in California and Colorado before they made their home in Orange City, where they raised their family, and Norma worked at Harker’s, Inc. for nearly 25 years.

Survivors include six children, Robin, of Orange City; Lisa, of Des Moines; John, of Sioux City; Steven, of Orange City; Paul, of Gaza, Iowa; and Larry Scott, of Gaza; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Van Oort, of Orange City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Melanie Ann Kenny; a sister, Joan Van Rooyen, and two brothers in infancy.

Memorials will be given to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
