Mr. Chad Noteboom, age 58, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. A prayer service will take place on Wednesday, June 17, at 10:00am, at the funeral home, followed by interment at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, at 11:00am, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Cody Statema and the Rev. Robert Drenten officiating.

Chad Ronald was born on December 14, 1967, in Orange City, the second of three children born to Ronald and Joanne (Dorhout) Noteboom. He grew up in Orange City, attending the Orange Christian School and Unity Christian High School, graduating in 1986.

From an early age, Chad could often be found at his dad’s Kerr-McGee station in Orange City—later Conoco—working part-time and learning the rhythms of the business. After high school, he joined full-time, selling tires and, as he liked to say, “doing whatever Dad told me to do.” Over the years, Chad took over ownership of the station, as well as the Royal Carwash and the Auto Wash, both in Orange City. The station became his second home. Whether behind his desk, chatting with the guys in the back, or visiting with regulars over coffee, Chad built a community around him. He retired and sold the station in 2024, and two years later, sold the car washes.

Chad looked forward to spending time with his friends and family and had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, whom he loved to spoil. For many years, he hosted Monday night football gatherings at his home in Orange City, creating a weekly tradition filled with good food, laughter and camaraderie. He also enjoyed countless fishing weekends with his friends at his cabin on Waubay Lake near Webster, South Dakota. He was a loyal, if not often disappointed, Minnesota Vikings fan, and in earlier years, enjoyed playing golf. He also liked to cook, especially smoking meat and experimenting with new recipes, which he often shared with others.

He will be deeply missed by his mother and her husband, Joanne and Gerald “Jerry” Niezen, of Orange City; a sister, Natalie Ysselstein, of Rock Valley; a brother and his wife, Gregory and Mary Noteboom, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three nephews, Darren Ysselstein, and his wife, Caitlin, of Imperial, California; Lee Ysselstein, of Newport Beach, California; and Joel Ysselstein, and his wife, Paige, of Sioux Falls; two nieces, Meegan Noteboom and Morgan Noteboom, both of Sioux Falls; a great-niece, Luca Ysselstein; and two great-nephews, Finn Ysselstein and Hutch Ysselstein.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials will be given to ALS in the Heartland.
