Mr. Ben Plathe passed away Wednesday morning at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s church Friday morning at 10 o’clock with Rev. N. J. Recker officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s cemetery. Rosary was recited Thursday evening at 5, 8, 8:30, and 9 o’clock.

Johanna Mousel was born July 4, 1886 at White Lake S. D. the daughter of Ferdinand and Margaret Hoffmann Mousel. She was Married at St. Mary’s church Alton IA, to Ben Plathe Jan 12, 1919? and had resided since in the Granville vicinity until some years ago they moved to Granville. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Honorary Guild of St. Joseph’s parish.

Surviving are the husband Ben, two sons – Fred and Melvin of Granville, four daughters- Coletta Mrs. Arnold Galles, Bernice Mrs. Jude Galles, Mrs. Malinda Klein all of Remsen, and Geraldine Mrs. Conrad Hodapp of Camby Minn. There are 67 grandchildren, and Twelve great grandchildren; also a brother, Frank Mousel and four sisters Mrs. John Konz, Mrs. John Pottebaum, Mrs. Joe Konz all of Alton and Mrs. Charles Homan of Slayton Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Joe and a brother John ousel. Casket bearers were grandsons – Ronnie Plathe, Gary, Roger and Jimmy Galles, Junior and Malcom Klein.
