This was Grietje (aks Maria) Klaren born 29 Sep 1856 Winkel N. H. Neth. died 28 Jun 1884 Capel Twp. Sioux county IA. Stated she was kicked by a cow and lost a baby she was carrying at the same time. Grietje's parents were Dirk Klaaren 1795-1860 and Grietje Zwaan 1795-1849

1885 census of Sioux County lists Lyzia Schaap at 28 yrs had two children Arie Schaap 6, and Grietje Schaap 5.

An obituary statement of her husband.
From the Alton Democrat, February 5, 1926, Boyden news:
L. Schaap, mayor of Boyden, was called to his reward Monday evening, January 25, after an illness of a few days duration. The deceased was born at Winkel, Holland, May 3, 1856, and was 69 years, 8 months and 22 days of age at the time of his death. He came to America in 1880 with his wife and two children, Arie and Gertie. He settled in Capel township and farmed for several years. During this time his wife was taken from him by death. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Vos and to them were born three sons, Otto, who preceded his father to the great Beyond, Peter of Des Moines and Dr. R. Schaap of Pipestone, Minnesota; also one daughter, Minnie, now Mrs. Peter De Valois who lives near Ashton and who was in the hospital at Sheldon with an infant son born January 24, at the time of her father’s death.
