RITES AT GRANVILLE FOR NICK AHLES OF GILBERTSVILLE, IOWA

Nicholas J. Ahles of Gilbertsville, Iowa, former Granville farmer, passed on at St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa Saturday evening, August 9 after an illness of six months. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Church in Granville Tuesday morning. Reverend Cullen of Sutherland read the Requiem Mass.

Mr. Ahlers was born August 13, 1867 at Napleville, Illinois. He was married at Gilbertsville to Mary Thorman of Granville. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive their father, namely Mary, Mrs. Paul Richter of Paullina; John of Adrian, Minnesota; Ann, Mrs. Henry Schnurr of Granville; Leo of Tyler, Minnesota; Hilda, Mrs. George Heathman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Raymond of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; Nick Jr. of Waterloo; also 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Ambrose Bernardy of Seaforth, Minnesota; Miss Anna and Matt of Gilbertsville; John of Waterloo. The family lived in the Granville vicinity for some years.

After Mr. Ahles death the body was brought from Waterloo Monday to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schnurr in Granville. Burial was in the local cemetery beside his wife, who preceded him in death some years ago.

Pallbearers were all members of the Luxemburger Brotherhood of America, of which he was a member. They were John Reis, Joe Schumacher Sr., Joe Goergen, Nick J. Didier, Henry Moos and Art Schemmel.
