Raymond N. Ahlers, 84, of Granville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at his home near Granville.

Raymond was born August 11, 1921 at rural Granville, Iowa, the son of Herman and Josephine (Koch) Ahlers.

Raymond was raised in the Granville area and received his education in both the rural school system and St. Joseph Catholic School in Granville. He was then engaged in farming, with his brothers, south of Granville and retired on the farm in 1985.

Funeral service was Monday, April 17, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, Reverend Richard Ball officiated. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville. Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen, Iowa.

Survivors include six brothers, Arnold, Bernard, Urban and Edward all of Granville, Vincent and Clarence and his wife Norma all of Ramsen, Iowa; two sisters, Rita and her husband Reynold Theisen of Canby, Minnesota, Clara Ahlers of Granville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Casket bearers were David, Dan and Phil Ahlers, Ken, Donald and John Theisen.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herman; one sister, Helen, as a young child; two half sisters, Catherine Steffes and her husband Mike, Agatha Steffes and her husband Henry.

Visitation was after 4:00 P.M. on Sunday. There was a rosary at 5 P.M. by the St. Joseph’s Guild and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 P.M., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa.
