Larry Akinyemi, 13, of Orange City died September 16, 2001, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He had sickle cell disease which resulted in a stroke.

Larry was born December 26, 1987, in Lagos, Nigeria. He attended a nursery school and a primary school in Nigeria.

In 1999, Larry came to Orange City where he attended Orange City Public Elementary School. He was currently attending the Rock Valley Community School. He enjoyed playing basketball and he loved living in America.

Survivors include his parents, Bolu and Kofo (Akinyosoye) Akinyemi of Nigeria; two sisters, Yeti and Bukky Akinyemi, both of Orange City; a grandmother, Anges Fashoranti; and uncles, aunts and cousins.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 27 at Dover Avenue Alliance Church in Orange City. The Reverend Paul Frederick officiated. Burial followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home, Orange City.
