Died – C. D. Wood, on Monday, Apr 9, after an illness of only a few days of inflammation of the bowels, C. D. Wood age 37 years died.
Mr. Wood was born in Oswego County New York, March 15, 1851, and came to Dakota fourteen years ago. He had been a resident of Hawarden and Calliope for the past seven years, and during that time had proved himself to be an upright industrious man, and made friends of all with whom he had dealings. He was a member in good standing with the Odd Fellows lodge and the funeral services were conducted under the auspices of this order. Mr. Wood left a wife and two children to mourn his loss. The widow and orphans have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
