Sister Dies at Rockford, Ill.

Sister Mary Annette, O. P. superior of St. Patrick’s convent at Sinsinawa, Wis. died at St. Anthony’s hospital, Rockford, Ill. after a short illness, in the 52nd year of her age and the thirtieth of her religious profession. Sister Annette was a member of the Kinney family, sister of James Kinney of Alton, Jerome Kinney of Sioux City, Mrs. Frank Arens of Salem, S.D., and Mrs. James List of Granville. Other relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Jerome Kinney, Sioux City; Mrs. Wm. Vande Steeg, Le Mars; Magdalene and Alberta Kinney of Alton.

Funeral services were held in St. Patrick’s church Wednesday with solemn high mass in charge of the Most Rev. E. H. Hoban, D.D. bishop of Rockford, with the assistance of a number of other reverend priests.

The 1900 U.S. census shows the Kinney family farming in Nassau Township, Sioux County: Michael (60) and Margaret (55), both born in Canada, and children Mary A. (23, born Nov. 1876), James (21), Michael J. (18), Margaret (17), and Johanna (14). She also appears (age 8) with her parents and siblings in the 1885 Iowa state census for Nassau Township. (Note the discrepancy in birth date between the census records and the Illinois Deaths and Stillbirths Index.)
