Funeral services for Simon Sjaarda, who died Sunday, May 13, were held last Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o’clock in the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverend Bronkema officiating.

Mr. Sjaarda was born in the Netherlands in 1863 and came to the United States in 1894. In June, 1898, he married Miss Geertje Faber at Montevideo, Minnesota and was engaged in farming near Princeburg, Minnesota for 19 years, later moving to a farm west of Orange City where he farmed 8 years. The last year of his life was spent in town.

He is survived by two brothers and three sisters: Mrs. M. Hilarides and Nick Sjaarda of Orange City, the others living in Holland.
