Funeral services for John Ries, 91, were held Tuesday at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Church with Reverend N.J. Becker officiating. Many friends attended the wake Monday evening at Spalding Hall. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Mr. Ries was born February 14, 1875, in Koerich, Luxemburg, Europe, and came to America at the age of 18 years. He lived in Granville most of his life. On February 14, 1905, he married Mary Kraus in Chicago, who survives him. He had retired from his trade of painting and paper hanging some time ago. Mr. Rues loved music and devoted much of his time and effort in promoting band music in his younger years. He was a charter member of the Luxemburger Brotherhood of America and also a member of the Singing Society of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister in Europe. Survivors are the widow and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were J.P. Gaul, Tony Hunt, Ed Koob, Pete Klein, A.J. Schilmoeller and Henry Klein.
