Le Mars Woman Killed

Mrs. Michael Lang, 56, of Le Mars, was killed instantly near Sibley last Friday afternoon when a trailer fastened to a passing truck became detached when it struck the comer of a bridge. The trailer flew into the air and dropped on top of the car in which Mrs. Lang was a passenger. Mr. Lang, who was driving the passenger car escaped injury.

According to the officer's report, the Langs had nearly driven off the bridge when a truck belonging to Imhoff Bros. of Sibley, driven by Melvin Christians, drove onto the bridge. The two-wheel trailer failed to clear the bridge and the trailer wheel struck a guardrail, detaching the vehicle from the truck. Mrs. Lang suffered a broken neck, fractured frontal bone and broken jaws and arms. The car was virtually demolished. The trailer fell mainly on the hood of the car.

Mrs. Lang was a sister of Mrs. Carl Braaks of Ireton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. L. L. Belk in charge. Burial was in the Le Mars city cemetery.

Mrs. Lang was born, at Ireton June 16, 1880; a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Dannebring. Survivors are her husband, two brothers, August of Chester, S.D., and John of Long Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Carl Braaks of Ireton, Mrs. H. F. Stief and Mrs. Art Dobbert of Le Mars.
