From the Alton Democrat, December 13, 1929, Rock Valley news:

Paul, the two year old son of Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Schuldt of Merrill, suddenly passed away while repeating nursery rhymes. The little lad had suffered with bronchial pneumonia. Rev. Schuldt was pastor of the Methodist church in Rock Valley for two years. Mrs. Schuldt is confined to bed at present due to an operation performed at Rochester, Minn. Rev. and Mrs. Schuldt have the heartfelt sympathy of a number of friends here.

His death certificate has Paul Joyce Schuldt, born May 11, 1927 in Sioux City; parents Arthur F. Schuldt, born in Sherrill, Iowa, and Esther Bahnson, born in Inwood, Iowa; died at Merrill, Plymouth County, Iowa, at 8:45 p.m., December 2, 1929; cause, “Only sick about 8 hours, died suddenly, probable acute cardiac dilatation”; buried at Inwood.
