Son of William Emil Madson and Caroline Robey

Willard (Bill) Robey Madson, oldest son of Dr. William E. and Caroline Robey Madson, was born in Hawarden, Iowa.

Bill was active in sports at Hawarden High School lettering in football and graduating in 1933. He went to Iowa State College and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in March 1938. His first job was with a packing plant in Kansas City, Missouri. He later joined the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant of Kansas City as a Layout Engineer. In August 1941, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and on March 10, 1942 went overseas with the 116th Combat Engineer Company of the 4st Division, serving in Australia, New Guinea, Biak Islands and the Philippine Islands. After the war he returned to work for Ford Motor company at Kansas City, Mossouri until his retirement in 1973.

During retirement, Bill considered himself a "Gentleman Farmer" on his five acre "Little Sioux" ranch of lawn, flowers, and fruit trees in Plattsburg, Missouri.

He was laid to rest at Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, Iowa.
