From the Rock Valley Bee, August 3, 1928:

Peter Hennink Died Suddenly

Peter Hennink passed away at his home in Rock Valley last Sunday evening following a brief illness of a few days, his death being due to double pneumonia. Mr. Hennink’s death is a great shock to his aged mother and other relatives and friends. He was taken sick a week before his death with grippe which developed into pneumonia.

Mr. Hennink was born in the Netherlands where he spent his boyhood days. He had attained the age of fifty-three years, seven months and twelve days. He came to this country thirty three years ago and since had spent most of his time in Rock Valley. He was kind and generous and always ready to help anyone in need. He made his home with his aged mother, who is left to mourn. He also leaves one brother and other relatives, who have the sincere sympathy of many friends in this community.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. D. Douwstra, of the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley and the remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery.

[The Card of Thanks that follows, expressing thanks for kind help and floral offerings during the sickness and death of their brother-in-law and uncle, is signed by Mrs. P. Hennink, Mrs. J. Hennink, Mr. and Mrs. Jake VandeWeerd, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bonthuis, and Mr. and Mrs. Asa Bonthuis.]
