FORMER LIBRARIAN DIES AT AGE 90

Funeral services for Miss Elsie Macomber, 90, librarian here for 25 years before retirement, who died last Thursday at the Burnight Nursing Home, were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home. Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist Church officiated with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hal Shoemaker played the organ selection “Saved By Grace.” Casket bearers were Elmer Earil, Ted Burnight, Delmar Gerrietts, George Lang, Ralph Wheeler and Harley Whittington.

Miss Macomber, daughter of Gilbert and Mary (McBride) Macomber, was born June 29, 1873, at Cascade, Iowa. She was graduated from Epworth Seminary at Epworth, Iowa.

She came to Hawarden in 1901 and taught school here for several years, later becoming librarian at the public library from which position she retired in 1947.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 50 years.

Survivors include two nieces.
